My priority was to have a working system again and to promote the map.
That we have. I am open to contributions. So if you are able to provide me with a script producing such a SVG map readable and usable by the KSVG in 3.4 it will be included almost instantly.

I do not have such a tool at my hands ATM. And programming such a tool would take too much time, since I have other pending tasks.

worldwide.kde.org will definitly get a SVG map. I just can not give you a time frame. I am working on this with the KSVG developers.

don't you think a svg map would be better suited than plain jpeg for that kinda stuff?
we could zoom easily without clicking on another jpeg all the time. Plus it would be great to show the power of ksvg. There are plenty of project on the net providing svg map:
http://www.google.com/search?q=world+svg+map&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

I found that one in particular:
http://jibbering.com/2002/8/foaf-people-map.svg

that one would be cool too but maybe it's too much :) http://ralphm.net/world?language=en

that one would kick ass :)
